The Nazareth Sisters established a convent at Melechovva  in Kannur city on 2nd Sept  2004. This place is in Elayavoor panchayath of Kannur  district. It was at first under the Thekkebazar parish but on 3rd Oct 2004 the St. Francis Church at Melechovva was elevated as a parish.  

 The sisters of this community teach in the special school at Melechovva run by the Franciscan Fathers. They have been teaching there since 2004. Sisters are trying to develop the hidden talents of the children with varying intellectual abilities. Many of those children succeed in life by acquiring various skills like tailoring, making ornaments etc. There are 80 students on the roll in this caps special school.

Sisters actively involve in all the parish activities and catechism teaching. As a part of Jail Ministry, sisters spare time to visit prisoners of Kannur Central Jail. They visit the families of parishioners too depending on the availability of time. This convent is within the limits of Kannur  township
