The Congregation of Nazareth Sisters was founded on September 15th 1975. It is an indigenous religious Congregation for women  of the  Eparchial status belonging to Syromalabar Major Archiepiscopal Church. It took it's  birth at Kunnoth Surrounded by a number of small village hamlets of Iritty block in Kannur distric of Kerala, the southern most state of India sharing its border with the state of Karnataka. It is situated about 46 km towards east from district headquarters Kannur. This northern region of Malabar in Kerala is a charming hilly area renowned for its out standing natural landscapes. Its beauty lies in its beautiful rivers and river banks, streams, lush Green Hills and wide valleys.The administration of the Congregation of Nazareth Sisters is done at the Nazareth Generalate, Kunnoth in the Archdiocese of Tellicherry. Meetings of the Congregation pertaining to religious affairs; the General Council and retreats/seminars for sisters  in addition to others, are normally conducted at the Generalate.
